Feel The Need For Speed?

A modern Formula1 car is very light and incredible powerful ...... this makes it very, very fast, agile and (there's always a downside!) difficult to control.

Here's a video of Gerhard Berger demonstrating this point!

So, do you think you know just how fast a Formula1 car is? How much faster than an ordinary road car,  for instance?......... and what about a real fast sports car like a Porsche 911 ....... that's got to be quite a bit closer, right? Well, when you're ready, click here to discover the truth through a multi-media F1experience, with pictures, sounds and cool graphics

During the 1988 pre-season, following one of the first testing sessions of the new low-line aerodynamic Mclaren MP 4/4 chassis and Honda RA-168 V6 turbo (I think!) , Ron Dennis called the whole of the McLaren organisation together for a very important message.

This went something along these lines ............. "Ladies & Gentlemen, this is going to be a season to remember. With the advantage we have, it is possible that Mclaren can win every race this year........"

The McLaren/Honda, piloted by the new boy in the team, Ayrton Senna and the then World Champion, Alain Prost, went on to win 15 out of 16 races and 199 points in the constructors championship (Senna, by the way, totally out-classed his "No: 1" driver, scoring thirteen pole positions and winning a (then) record eight races and the drivers championship in his first year with the team!) ............. it would have been 16/16 if a back marker hadn't taken Senna out, while he was leading.
